Vatsim Flying

Flying on the VATSIM network is a rewarding experience; You can fly with your MetroAir colleagues and others. You will also receive realistic ATC services. It can also be challenging and scary if you have never flown online before. If you are new to VATSIM, hopefully you will learn a little more about VATSIM and be inspired to try a flight online.

Before you get started there a few things that you will need to do.

  • You'll need a VATSIM ID. If you don't already have one, follow the links to join on the VATSIM Pilot Resource Center.
  • Make sure you have the necessary software installed to connect to the network. Squawkbox 3 and FSInn are the two options that will enable you to connect to the network.
  • Be comfortable with the aircraft that you plan to operate in an offline setting first. The Air Traffic Controllers expect that you know how to operate your aircraft. You are the Pilot-In-Command after all.
