From MetroAirWiki
Background with MetroAir
Tom is a co-founder of MetroAir and has been with the airline since its conception in late 2005, along with other members including founder Mark McCoy. He joined during the development process as fleet manager and livery designer / painter. As MetroAir has progressed, he has looked after the development of the brand, as well as interacting with the executive team over other elements of the airline's development.
With the departure of Stuart Johnston, he then moved up the ranks to Chief Operating Officer, acting as CEO Mark's deputy. In March 2007, with the resigning of Mark McCoy, Tom moved up to the position of Chief Executive Officer. In the summer of 2008, Tom stepped back from his day-to-day commitments with MetroAir, but maintains a presence with the other staff at the airline, having handed over the responsibility of CEO to Matt Calsada.
Personal information
Tom is originally from London, UK, but of Welsh and South African descent. After a year in Durban, South Africa, he moved to Bristol to commence a masters degree in Aeronautical Engineering. Frustrated with the lack of human interest (or anything not involving advanced mathematics) transferred to Economics. It is also in Bristol that he met his wife, and got married in 2004. Tom lives and works in Bristol.
When not at work or looking after the airline, Tom can often be found painting aircraft, or watching either The West Wing, Family Guy or one of his collection of oddball British comedies.
