General
Outagamie County Regional is situated near the Fox River in northeast Wisconsin, The Outagamie County Regional Airport serves the city of Appleton and surrounding communities with flights to six major hubs. This level of service presents travelers in the region with access to anywhere while still providing the convenience of an airport in their own backyard.
Outagamie County Regional Airport began operations at its current location August 23, 1965 with only 28 acres and 4 buildings. The airport’s current facilities are far different nearly 40 years later, with over 20 buildings and approximately 117 acres of paved surfaces situated on 1697 acres. The Outagamie County Regional Airport continues to grow with the completion of its new 12.3 million dollar terminal expansion and renovation project. The new 30,000 square foot addition has 8 gates, 5 of which are equipped with jet boarding bridges and a capacity of up to 425,000 enplaned passengers.
The Appleton Airport, a service provided by Outagamie County, served 572,000 passengers in 2006 with over 57,500 aircraft operations.
The airport is located on the west end of the Fox Cities approximately 2 miles west of US Highway 41 on County CA / 125. The airport plays a critical role in fostering business growth and economic development in the region, served 572,000 passengers in 2006, and 10 million pounds of freight and mail annually. Realizing the need for such a vital asset WisDOT has invested over $18 million in federal, state, and local funds for improvements at the airport to preserve existing facilities, enhance safety, meet the increasing demand for commercial service air travel and support economic growth and development in the region.
