General Questions
- What is a Virtual Airline?
- An internet-based organization dedicated to flight simulation. There are many different types of virtual airlines, ranging from flying clubs, to commercial airlines.
- How often must I fly in order to retain my position in the ranks?
- Here at MetroAir we’re flexible, however pilots are expected to carry about a flight once a month in order to ‘stay current’. If a pilot is not able to achieve this, then their HUB Manager should be contacted.
- What Flight Simulators do you support?
- Our fleet and operations are based solely for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002 and 2004. Some of the aircraft can be imported into FSX but there has been issues with panels.
- How do I join?
- After you have read the rules in the Pilot Handbook and have familiarized yourself with our operations, simply fill out an application.
- How long will it take to process my application?
- Generally, it shouldn’t take any longer than 3-4 days.
- What is a HUB?
- The home-base of an airline; it acts as a springboard into other airports and acts as a ‘home’ there too.
- What is the minimum age restriction?
- We require all members of both the virtual airline and forums, to be a minimum of sixteen (16) years old. While previous policy allowed members aged 13 or above, management has decided to raise this restriction to 16.
- Why is there an age restriction in place?
- MetroAir follows the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. This states that no website, or it’s operators are permitted to require or collect information about children under the age of thirteen (13) years old, or to disclose personally identifiable information. As we do collect this type of information from applicants, we cannot allow children under the age of thirteen (13) to become a member, of both the airline or forums. A recent decision by management has furthermore raised this age restriction to sixteen (16). Sorry kids!
- Can I see pictures of the stewardesses?
- No.
- Can I have any of the stewardesses’ phone numbers?
- No. First of all, they are “Flight Attendants” now. Second, You couldn’t have the pictures so what makes you think you’d get a phone number?
- My question is unanswered here - what should I do?
- If the question still remains unanswered, then it would be best to consult the forum where fellow pilots or a member of staff can assist you.

Flight Operations
- Who do I contact should I have a problem with a flight or PIREP?
- Your HUB Manager can be contacted using the contact form on the website.
- Do I have to fly a flight at the same time it is scheduled?
- We do not require pilots to fly the flights at the time real-world indicated in our timetable, but we do encourage to set the FS Clock to this time.
- What aircraft should I use?
- The pilot should use the aircraft that is set for the route / flight in question, depending upon the pilot’s rank. If the route in question operates an aircraft that cannot be flown under a pilots rank, it cannot be flown.
- Can I fly at a higher simulation rate?
- A MAXIMUM of 1x simulation speed when within forty (40)nm of any active airport, except when navigating in airways and with ATC approval (if flying online). During cruise, a maximum of 4x can be used. If you don't have time to fly a 10 hour flight, don't!
- When should I file my PIREP?
- Immediately after the flight.
