General

Cancun International is located in the Northeast point of the Yucatan Peninsula in the Caribbean Ocean. All major airlines from the United States and Canada flight to Cancun. They have connecting service from almost every city in North America and direct nonstop service from all major hubs. There are also several airlines from Europe and South America that either flight directly to Cancun or with a stop at a major hub.

Cancun is one of the busiest airports in the Caribbean and the point of entry to the "Mundo Maya". Every year millions of people visit Cancun and the Riviera Maya and the number of visitors is expected to increase rapidly thanks to the new mega-resorts already in construction all over the area. During high season, Cancun can average about 800,000 passengers per month.

It has all the facilities of a major international airport with signs in various languages. There are two buildings, the MAIN terminal and the FBO terminal. Both terminals have arrival and departure concourses. The MAIN terminal is used for domestic and international scheduled flights from major airlines. The FBO terminal is used mainly for chartered airlines/flights and private planes.

Cancún Airport is going through some expansions, including the construction of a new runway and the brand new terminal 3, which is going to be ready by the first quarter of 2007, comprising 12 jetbridge-boarding gates and 4 apron doors.
