Getting to know your HR Lady

September 8, 2012 - MetroAir Minutes, News

As many of you may know, I am currently the only active female on the roster here at MetroAir. I wanted to take this time to officially introduce myself and tell you a little about myself and what I do here at MetroAir.

I decided to join MetroAir back in March of 2011 after watching my husband take part in the VA. I was really intrigued by VA’s and how they worked. When I joined MetroAir, I had no real understanding of how to operate a aircraft, and to be perfectly honest, I am still learning. I may not have a lot of time to get in the cockpit as I would like, due to raising my beautiful 3 year old daughter, but I do enjoy it when I get that rare chance!

Four months after I got hired, I got promoted to the Director of Media & Marketing. I was thrilled to be apart of the staff, and help out in anyway that I could. As Director of Media & Marketing, I was in charge of any announcements that needed to be posted to the blog and/or forums. I only stayed in that postition for 6 months when I got hired on as the Human Resources Manager. When you first applied to MetroAir, I am the one that received your application. I determine based on the information provided, whether to bring you on as a pilot with us, or to reject your application. As well, I am also responsible for letting pilots go if they do not fulfill the requirements set to stay active on the roster. I am also in charge of handling any Leave of Absence requests or any questions regarding your transfer hours. I truly enjoy welcoming new pilots to our airline and helping out anyway I can.

Currently, as my husband is away training with the National Guard, I am taking over his role as BWI’s hub manager for the next 6 months, as well as my HR duties. I enjoy learning new areas and positions about the airline, and getting to know the pilots even more. I am also very much into the hub competitions. Even tho I may not be able to be in the air with the pilots, I am there in spirit and constantly rooting them on to bring home the paddle where it rightfully belongs, BWI!

Last but not least, I am very glad I joined this airline. The staff and pilots here are some truly great people. They become more than just pilots at a virtual airline, they become friends. I can’t speak on behalf of any other virtual airline out there, but I truly believe that there is no other out there like MetroAir!
